WHERE CRICKET MEETS: Fundraising milestone passed with latest event

Katy Sexton MBE was our special guest for the most recent ‘Where Cricket Meets…’. The event which took place on Tuesday 19th April was in aid of Lady Taverners and the Sussex Cricket Foundation to the backdrop of Day Three of the Specsavers County Championship match against Essex at The 1st Central County Ground, Hove.

The Where Cricket Meets…Lady & Lord’s Taverners event was kindly sponsored by Consortium Business Solutions, Ridgeview Estate Winery and Humphrey & Co, in addition to their fantastic involvement we also received support from Back 2 Balance Chiropractic Clinic, The Craft Tea Room, Beautiful Brighton, JoJo Boutique, Nourish, Starfish Group, Honey Lansdowne Hypnotherapy, The Grand Hotel Spa GB1, Style & Grace and Brighton Gin who all provided various raffle prizes.

Sharing an insight into the Olympic games and also bringing along some of her winning medals for the guests to see, Katy talked about her journey to the top and what being a Commonwealth and World Championship Gold medallist meant to her.

With former Sussex batsman Tony Cottey the MC for the day, the entertainment and fantastic food provided a great afternoon’s event, but the occasion, as with all ‘Where Cricket Meets…’ was ultimately to raise money for the fantastic work of the Lady Taverners and the Sussex Cricket Foundation.

The Lady Taverners raise funds to help enhance the lives of young people with special needs and from disadvantaged backgrounds, giving as many young people as possible a sporting chance in life.

The Sussex Cricket Foundation aims to create better futures and stronger communities across Sussex using the power of cricket, increasing participation, inspiring education and improving health.

An amazing total of £5,725 was raised at the event from an auction and ‘Heads and Tails’, which will be split equally between the two charities.

Even more amazing is the fact that the funds from this ‘Where Cricket Meets…’ event brings the total of funds raised for charities from ‘Where Cricket Meets…’ since they started to a whopping £100,000! Thank you to everyone who has helped us along the way!

Sussex Cricket are delighted to have been able to raise such a fantastic amount of money all of which goes back in to numerous charities to support the work that they are doing, a majority of which are based and work across Sussex.

The next ‘Where Cricket Meets….’ event takes place on Thursday 21st July when former Arsenal and England footballer Ray Parlour is the guest speaker. For more information and to book please click HERE
